Featured tour: AGWA Historical - Shearing the Rams
AGWA is home until 28 July to one of Australia’s iconic colonial-era paintings - Tom Roberts’ Shearing the Rams on loan from the National Gallery of Victoria. Shearing the Rams hangs alongside AGWA’s own Down on his luck by Frederick McCubbin and gives you a rare opportunity to see these two great nationalistic narrative paintings side-by-side.
Presenting works from the 1700s to the 1910s, the AGWA Historical Collection features examples of some of the key art movements of the nineteenth century. Many works take landscape as their subject, and the artistic approaches range from a precise observation of nature to impressionist works capturing the fleeting effects of light and atmosphere.
Ticket includes tour and morning tea.
